FAQs
Can rotating nozzles make it through P-traps?
Some smaller rotating nozzles can navigate larger traps successfully, but typically smaller lines require a drophead, ball or flexible-leader nozzle to get through the tighter p-traps.
What drain lines commonly require trap nozzles?
Trap nozzles are often used in sinks, floor drains, laundry lines, kitchen drains, and branch lines where tight bends or difficult pipe transitions are common. Trap nozzles are especially useful in small, indoor residential and commercial plumbing systems, but are also used to pass through whole-house traps in sewer lines.
Are electric mini jetters good for cleaning through indoor P-traps?
Yes. Portable electric mini jetters, when fitted with the proper hose and nozzles, are commonly used for indoor jetting of small drains via P-trap accesses. Their ability to clear soft clogs and buildup with quiet, exhaust-free operation, along with their ease of maneuverability inside homes, apartments, restaurants, and commercial buildings are making electric mini jetters a go-to tool for plumbers and maintenance staff.
Why won’t my jetter hose make it through a trap?
Difficulty moving through a P-trap, whether it’s via a floor drain, floor sink, bathroom drain, whole-house trap, etc. is typically because the jetter-hose is too stiff or too floppy, and/or the physical shape of the nozzle simply won’t pass through the sharp pipe transitions. “Pushable” trap-hoses and properly sized drophead or ball nozzles typically improve hose-advancement in any drain system with tight turns.
What type of jetter nozzle works best for P-traps and tight bends?
Drophead, ball, and flexible trap-leader nozzles are commonly used for navigating P-traps, tight bends, drop-tees, and other difficult transitions inside residential and commercial drain systems. Their rounded or flexible design helps the hose move through turns more effectively – especially that last turn of a P-trap that stalls many nozzles.
