FAQs
Are soft blockages easier to clear than hard blockages?
In many cases, yes. Soft blockages typically require less aggressive cutting power than roots, scale, or hardened grease. Proper nozzle selection and sufficient flow still play an important role in clearing the line efficiently.
Why does a soft blockage keep returning after cleaning?
Recurring soft blockages often happen after a previous cleaning failed to totally clear the line. Leftover buildup along the pipe walls and/or heavier debris such as tree roots or scale can quickly become collection-points for new soft clogs. Grease, sludge, wipes, and organic debris can quickly accumulate on leftover buildup, and soon may stop up the line again in frequently used sewer & drain systems.
Can electric sewer jetters clear soft blockages effectively?
Yes. Electric sewer jetters are often very effective for residential and smaller commercial soft blockage cleaning because they provide controlled pressure, portability, and strong cleaning performance in smaller drain lines.
What nozzle works best for soft drain blockages?
Forward flushing and basic cleaning nozzles are commonly used for soft blockages because they help restore flow and move debris efficiently through the line. Rotating nozzles may also help when grease or buildup is coating the pipe walls.
What is considered a soft blockage in drain cleaning?
Soft blockages usually involve loose or semi-soft material that restricts flow without becoming fully hardened inside the pipe. Common examples include soap buildup, sludge, paper, food waste, soft grease, and organic debris.
