FAQs
Can rotating nozzles be used with electric sewer jetters?
Absolutely. Many rotating nozzles are specifically designed to perform well with portable electric mini jetters, especially in residential and indoor drain cleaning applications where controlled wall cleaning is important.
Why is my rotating nozzle not cleaning effectively?
Rotating nozzles must be maintained; if an orifice is plugged the nozzle might spin erratically or not at all. Grit entering the nozzle-body or lack of lubrication can cause a spinning nozzle to stall or seize up. Poor cleaning performance can also happen when the nozzle is incorrectly sized for the jetter’s PSI and GPM, buildup is too severe for the current setup, or flow is insufficient for proper rotation. Matching the nozzle correctly to your equipment is critical for effective cleaning.
Are rotating nozzles good for grease and descaling jobs?
Yes. Rotating nozzles is typically the best choice for grease removal because their spinning jet pattern maintains more consistent cleaning contact around the pipe walls during operation, peeling out buildup and scouring the pipe wall. For the same reason, sewer pros often use a rotating descaling nozzle for first-pass at a scaled up line to peel away the porous, flaky scale, allowing them to then assess if mechanical descaling methods are required as a next step.
What are rotating jetter nozzles used for?
Rotating jetter nozzles are designed for thorough pipe wall cleaning and buildup removal. They are commonly used for grease, scale, root remnants, sludge, and other debris that standard penetrating nozzles may leave behind after flow has been restored.
When should I use a rotating nozzle instead of a standard penetrating nozzle?
Rotating nozzles are typically preferred when the goal is deeper wall-to-wall cleaning rather than simply restoring flow. Many plumbers switch to a rotating nozzle after opening the blockage to achieve a more complete pipe cleaning.
