FAQs
Can back flushing nozzles be used with electric sewer jetters?
Yes, but don’t expect to move heavy debris. Small electric mini jetters are designed to clear small indoor drain lines, thus do not have the GPM/PSI power to move heavy debris.
Are back flushing nozzles good for grease and sludge removal?
Yes. Back flushing nozzles work very well for pulling soft grease, sludge, paper, and loose debris through the line after buildup has been broken apart. For hardened grease, many plumbers pair them with rotating or penetrating nozzles during heavier cleaning jobs.
When should I use a pulling nozzle instead of a forward flushing nozzle?
Pulling nozzles are typically better for long runs that require high hose-pulling power, for dragging loosened debris back through the line, and for maximum wall cleaning coverage. Jetting upstream from catch-basins, grease-traps, and manholes are classic examples. Forward flushing nozzles are usually preferred when the goal is to penetrate a blockage and/or push material downstream.
What is a back flushing or pulling jetter nozzle used for?
Back flushing nozzles are designed to pull debris back toward the operator–especially when jetting upstream from a basin, grease-trap, or manhole. With all water-jets facing the rear (toward the hose), these nozzles have excellent pulling-power to move the hose through the pipe. They are commonly used for clearing loose buildup, flushing debris out of the line, scouring pipe-walls, and improving overall pipe cleaning efficiency after flow has been restored.
