February 2026 - Frank Heneghan of CT Storm Water Authority
For Frank Heneghan, drainage work has always been about understanding water before trying to control it. His career began in the rain gutter industry in the early 2000s, where surface water problems naturally led to deeper questions underground. As those questions grew, so did the scope of his work. What started with subcontracted drain services turned into in-house inspections, jetting, repairs, and eventually full design-build drainage systems. That evolution was not planned from day one, but it was driven by paying attention to where the work was heading and committing to learning each step along the way.
Frank built his skill set the hard way, through hands-on experience and self-teaching. Early on, he spent years watching and learning from subcontracted drain technicians before bringing that work in house. With no online resources to lean on at the time, progress came through trial, error, and repetition. Those early experiences taught him that drainage demands three-dimensional thinking, something that cannot be learned from a book or a screen. You understand it once you have been in the ground, solving problems in real conditions.
As the business grew, Frank’s motivation became less about the work itself and more about who the work supports. Family is a major driver for him, both at home and within his company. He is building something that provides stability for his own kids and for the families of the people who work alongside him. That sense of responsibility shows up in how he approaches every job, taking problems seriously, committing to long-term solutions, and surrounding himself with people who are willing to work hard and do things the right way.
Frank Heneghan represents the kind of professionalism this industry is built on. His career has been shaped by experience earned in the field, a willingness to learn the hard way, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people who depend on his work. He approaches drainage with patience, perspective, and respect for the long-term impact of doing the job right. That combination of technical understanding, steady leadership, and commitment to family and team is why we chose Frank Heneghan of CT Storm Water Authority as this month’s Drain Invader of the Month.
